Mike offered store credit.I just want $135 back to give my son to put a smile on his face.instead of all the medical problem weve incured. He shouldnt be in any business especially something where he has to communicate. Tam, was rude and the communication barrier made it worse. Weve ended up with thousands of dollars in medical bills.I contacted the store owner, Tam, and the manager Mike. Come to find out hedgehogs carry a specific type of fungus thats dangerous, especially to kids. Simply put, dont go to PET CITY!! We purchased a hedgehog, everything was fine but then my son developed an infection due to the hedgehog. I am happy to say that as a loyal customer of theirs since they opened. There are much better HONEST businesses that deserve the space and customers. UH I DON"T THINK SO!!!! They are the absolute worst store ever and I will pray every day that they close down. So you’re trying to tell me that I only buy my yorkies dog food and my cat food 6lbs bags of food three times a year.
He and another sales person sat there arguing with me that the prices only increase three times a year. That started at $7.99 and is now at $12.99 but again the same excuse as to why.
At Mikes advice “because it’s comparable food at a better price”. After a few months of realizing their prices kept going up I switched to Chicken soup for the pet lovers soul for my dog’s food. They are all clearly told to say the same crap. Thats the exact same line his other staff gave me last month when I was there buying my pets food and questioned it. He said the prices only go up three times a year b/c of the brand increasing their prices or some BS. When I mentioned it to the manager, Mike, I believe his name is. I kept the bag my cat just finished and the price is clearly written $19.99. The cat food started at $14.99 today it was at $20.99. I buy Innova cat and dog food there and every time I go in the price is higher. I have spoken to the staff their a few times now and today was the worst. I would be leery of referring anyone there because of misinformation that could be given.Your animals life depends on responsible sound advice and Im just not sure you would find it at Pet City. This store has great potential and I have never had a problem there before. I dont need a debate or have someone make themselves look big by making me look small. I am in the medical field and believe me, I look things up and research before I open my mouth. His lack of knowledge regarding other breeds,including his own dogs breed, concerned me as his facts where not accurate and the staff started giving me looks. He continued to compare his dogs experiences to dilute what my vets and breeder have told me. This is just not true and it has been proven that high levels of protien can increase the growth process and cause hip dysplasia.
I went to the store to buy food that she would eat because she is so picky with allergies and want to her to put on some weight (she just had a vet visit and is not unhealthy). He was not very knowledgeable about the nutitional needs of large puppies and suggested that because I was not feeding my puppy lots of protien that I would cause her growth and health problems. The only real problem I had was with the manager, at least that is who I think he was. From birds to bunnies, food to fun toys this store is has more that it size suggests. Their fish area has several types of fresh and saltwater fishes. They have many different types of animals and reptiles with friendly staff for the most part. I live near Pet City and it is located in a central area for Lutz.
